High-quality brushing of teeth is the main condition necessary to maintain cleanliness in the oral cavity. You can provide high-quality and delicate dental care with the help of an Oral-B electric toothbrush. A significant advantage of the product Oral—B is that it is equipped with removable cleaning attachments. If the working part wears out, you can only replace it without purchasing a new brush. Replacement heads for an Oral-B electric toothbrush can be purchased at a specialty store or on the website of an official dealer.
IT IS IMPORTANT

Important information
- Your Oral-B toothbrush can connect to your smartphone (see Connecting your toothbrush to your smartphone for more information).
- To avoid radio interference and/or compatibility issues, turn off the radio transmitter on the brush handle (5) before using it in restricted areas such as airplanes or designated areas in hospitals.
- To turn off the radio transmitter, simultaneously press and hold the on/off button (3) and the mode button (4) for two seconds until the radio transmission display (7) goes out. Follow the same steps to turn the transmission back on.
- If you use a pacemaker, do not bring the brush closer than 15 centimeters to it while it is on. If you experience interference, immediately turn off the radio transmitter in the handle.
A little about use and storage
How often to change your toothbrush is a rather individual question. Some people do this often, others not so much. But the main thing is not to exceed the maximum permissible period of use of 3 months. In this case, you need to follow some rules for storing and using toothbrushes:
- After using the brush, you should wash it thoroughly with soap. This is due to the fact that there are a huge number of bacteria in the human oral cavity. This applies even to absolutely healthy people. Naturally, some bacteria remain on the bristles.
- You need to wash your brush not only after, but also before brushing your teeth. Bacteria and microbes found in the environment can settle on the bristles. Once in the oral cavity, they can lead to the development of various types of diseases.
- In many families, all toothbrushes are stored in one cup. This is categorically wrong, because upon contact, bacteria are transferred from one device to another. Family members' brushes should be kept separately. If this is not possible, the use of protective caps is mandatory.
- When determining the suitability of a toothbrush for further use, you should not always be guided only by the appearance of the bristles. Sometimes people brush their teeth so carefully that the bristles may not lose their appearance for a whole year. However, this does not mean that there are no bacteria on it.
- To eliminate the possibility of bacteria growing on tooth bristles, you can purchase a special sterilizer. But this is only advisable if you use very expensive brushes.
- Many people consider it correct to store brushes in cases to prevent germs from entering from the outside. However, they must be completely dry. Otherwise, microbes will multiply even faster.
Charging and use
Your toothbrush has a waterproof handle and is designed for safe use in the bathroom.
- You can start using the toothbrush immediately or after a short charging period by placing it on the charging station (9). Note: if the battery is completely discharged (the charge level indicator light on the display (8) does not light up during charging, or the device does not respond to pressing the on/off button (3)), it is necessary to charge it for at least 30 minutes.
- The charge level is displayed on the charge indicator (8). A flashing light means the brush is charging (Fig.①); Once charging is complete, the indicator light turns off. A full charge usually takes 15 hours and lasts for up to 12 days of regular toothbrush use (twice a day for two minutes) (Fig.①).
- Note: If the device is completely discharged, the indicator light may not light up for the first 30 minutes of charging.
- When the battery charge is low, the red indicator light on the charge level display starts flashing and the motor speed decreases. When completely discharged, the motor will stop; For single use, you will need to charge the device for at least 30 minutes.
- You can keep the handle on the plugged-in charger at all times to maintain a full charge; The device is protected from overcharging. Note: For best performance, store the brush handle at room temperature.
Caution : Do not expose the handle to high temperatures above 50°C.
Is it possible to brush your teeth longer than the allotted time?
How often and why you need to change your toothbrush is explained in dentistry. Manufacturers indicate recommendations for the use of hygiene devices on the packaging of their products. But despite all this, many are looking for ways to replace toothbrushes less often.
It is indeed possible to increase the service life of toothbrushes, but then you will have to pay more attention to cleaning them after each morning and evening procedure. To remove bacterial accumulations not only from the surface of the bristles, but also from their base, you need to hold the toothbrush under running water and carefully move the bristles in different directions. Once a week, the toothbrush should be dipped in a solution of hydrogen peroxide, Miramistin , or a mouth rinse with an antibacterial effect.
This is interesting: Choosing toothpaste for braces: recommendations from dentists
For those who do not plan to control the time they use their toothbrush, it is better to purchase a brush with bristles that act as an indicator: when the product reaches the end of its life, the color of the bristles changes. This usually happens after the standard 3 months, but if the user does not have any special dental problems and takes good care of his toothbrush, the color of the bristles may change only after 4-5 months of use.
Using your toothbrush
Teeth brushing technique
Wet the brush head and apply any toothpaste. To prevent splashing, bring the brush head close to your teeth before pressing the button on the handle (Fig.②). If you are using one of the Oral-B rotating brush heads, move it slowly from tooth to tooth, pausing on each surface for a few seconds. When using the Oral-B TriZone , place the bristles of the brush against your teeth at a slight angle to the gum line. Apply gentle pressure and begin brushing in a back-and-forth motion, similar to a manual toothbrush. Regardless of the brush head you use, start on the outside of your teeth, move to the inside, and then clean the chewing surfaces. Give equal attention to all four quadrants of the mouth.
You can also consult your dentist or oral hygienist about the technique that is best for you.
During the first few days of using any electric toothbrush, your gums may bleed a little. Usually this phenomenon stops after a few days. If bleeding gums persist for two weeks, contact your dentist or oral hygienist. If you have sensitive teeth and/or gums, Oral-B recommends using the Sensitive mode (possibly in combination with the Oral-B Sensitive brush head).
Smart Ring
Your toothbrush is equipped with Smart Ring technology, which varies depending on the color of the light: White (default) = activity indicator and visual timer (select a different color in the Oral-B™ app settings)
red = pressure sensor indicator
blue = Bluetooth® connection indicator
Timer
You can choose "Professional" or "Two Minute" mode
The “Two Minute” timer turns on a long intermittent beep and a flashing Smart Ring light (2) when two minutes have elapsed—the length of time recommended by experts for brushing your teeth.
The “Professional” timer gives a signal to move to the next quadrant of the oral cavity with a short intermittent sound signal and a flashing Smart Ring light indicator (2) (Fig. ③). A long intermittent beep and a flashing light indicate the end of the two-minute period of brushing your teeth in accordance with the recommendations of specialists.
The timer remembers the elapsed time even if the brush is turned off briefly during use. The timer is reset when there is a pause longer than 30 seconds, a short press on the mode selection button (4) during the pause, or placing the brush handle on the charger.
Note: When using special options in the Oral-B™ app, the visual timer may be deactivated.
Timer setting:
By default, your brush has the Professional timer activated. To change settings, press and hold the mode button (4) for 2 seconds. Select the timer mode with the “on/off” button (3). Confirm your choice by pressing the mode button.
- 2 light signals - “Two-minute” mode is selected
- 4 light signals - “Professional” mode is selected
Note: You can also set/adjust the timer through the Oral-B™ app.
Pressure meter
If you press too hard on the brush, the Smart Ring (2) lights up red, indicating the need to release the pressure. In addition, the head will stop pulsating and its rotation speed will decrease (in “Daily”, “Professional” and “Sensitive” modes) (Fig.③). Periodically check the operation of the pressure sensor by applying gentle pressure to the brush during use.
Operating modes (depending on model)
Your toothbrush offers different brushing modes. The selected mode is reflected in the mode display (6) on the brush handle (except for the “Daily Cleaning” mode):
“ Daily brushing ” is a standard regimen for daily oral care
“ Professional cleaning ” – for a feeling of unusual cleanliness (high frequency of movements)
“ Gentle Cleaning ” – gentle but thorough cleaning of sensitive areas
“ 3D White ” – polish for periodic or daily use
“ Gum care ” – gentle gum massage
“ Tongue hygiene ” – cleaning the tongue for periodic or daily use
To use the Tongue Hygiene mode, we recommend using the Sensitive attachment. You can clean your tongue with or without toothpaste. Brush the entire surface of the tongue with gentle, systematic movements. The recommended time is 20 seconds, its end is indicated by a flashing Smart Ring light signal.
Your toothbrush automatically starts in the last mode you selected. To switch to another mode, press the mode button successively while using the brush (Fig.④). To return to the “Daily Cleaning” mode from any other mode, press and hold the mode selection button (4).
Note: You can also select/adjust the mode through the Oral-B™ app.
Replacing the head on an electric toothbrush
In this post, we will take a closer look at how to replace the head on an electric toothbrush . This is done quite simply and quickly.
Using an electric toothbrush requires periodically replacing the brush heads with new ones. As we already know, replacement nozzles need to be changed at least once every three months.
But if you have just recently switched from a regular toothbrush to an electric one, the question may arise - how to do this correctly? The mechanism for replacing nozzles is quite simple, takes little time and requires minimal effort.
Even a child can change the brush head on an electric toothbrush!
When we buy an electric toothbrush, we receive instructions on how to use it. But the situation is completely different with toothbrush heads: rarely does any manufacturer write detailed instructions on how to replace the head with a new one. It is not a problem to replace the nozzle if you have already done a similar procedure before. Or at least seen other people doing it.
But what should you do if you are going to replace the head on your electric toothbrush for the first time?
What do you need to know about changing brush heads on an electric toothbrush?
We have already mentioned the frequency of replacing nozzles. What other considerations or precautions are there when replacing the brush head on an electric toothbrush?
As with any hygiene products, it is worth paying attention to a number of general rules. They are more concerned with personal hygiene and careful attitude towards replacing the element itself - the replaceable nozzle:
- Before replacing, wash your hands with soap and water.
- Be careful when opening the pack of attachments to avoid accidentally dropping them on the floor.
- Remove the old nozzle and install a new one in its place.
These rules are quite simple, but they should not be neglected. One of the most important rules, which essentially does not apply to the process of replacing the nozzle itself: before you start replacing the nozzle, be sure to wash your hands with soap. This necessary measure will prevent various harmful microbes from entering the body.
How to change the head on an electric toothbrush?
As mentioned earlier, the mechanism for replacing the nozzle itself is quite simple. The video explains in detail how to replace the head on an electric toothbrush :
Replaceable attachments
Oral-B offers you a variety of replacement attachments to fit your Oral-B handle.
Our rotating brush heads are used to precisely clean every tooth.
Oral-B CrossAction attachment
The most advanced of our attachments. Angled bristles for precise cleaning. Removes and eliminates plaque.
Oral-B FlossAction Attachment
Micropulsating bristles allow for effective plaque removal in the space between teeth
Oral-B 3D White
Special polishing cap for natural teeth whitening. Not suitable for use by children under 12 years of age.
Oral-B Sensi Ultrathin nozzle
It is a combination of regular bristles for cleaning the surface of teeth and ultra-fine bristles for cleaning areas along the gum line.
Most Oral-B brush heads are equipped with light blue INDICATOR® bristles, allowing you to keep track of when the brush head needs to be replaced. If you brush your teeth thoroughly twice a day for two minutes, the bristles will fade by half in about three months, demonstrating the need to change the brush head. If the bristles become frayed before the color has faded, you may be pressing too hard on the brush when brushing.
We do not recommend using Oral-B FlossAction or Oral-B 3D White attachments if you wear braces.
The Oral-B “Ortho” brush head is specially designed for cleaning teeth around braces and braces.
Choosing the right head for an electric toothbrush
There are a large number of attachments for electric toothbrushes in order to clean the tooth as thoroughly and better as possible.
Some people use one type of attachment and always brush their teeth with it, changing the attachment every 2-3 months.
Modern brush heads have indicators to assess the condition of the bristles. Basically, color indicators; when the color fades or wears off, it is advisable to replace the nozzle with a new one.
For replacement speed
The attachment is influenced by how intensively the electric toothbrush is used, how much pressure is applied to it, and what movements the brush makes to clean the teeth. The originality of the nozzle also affects the service life.
Some companies make universal attachments that are suitable for several models of electric toothbrushes, and there are attachments that are suitable only for their brush.
My opinion is that for high-quality teeth cleaning, different types of attachments alone are not enough; manual teeth cleaning skills are important.
Universal nozzle
is as follows: the bristles are set widely, the length of the bristles allows you to completely encircle the tooth, it has a sufficient length of the neck, there are color indicators of the degree of wear.
Universal nozzle
Specialized attachments
have additions in the working part. Additions include rubber inserts and strips, intersecting bristles, and rubber cups for toothpaste.
Specialized nozzle
With additional inserts into the working part of the toothbrush, the useful number of bristles is noticeably reduced. And, as you know, the more bristles in the nozzle, the better its cleaning properties. Therefore, additional elements can indirectly help keep teeth clean.
Specialized attachments
Adult electric toothbrush heads
Adult heads for electric toothbrushes are distinguished by a variety of choices and sizes of the working part. Basically, the color of adult baits is a conservative one-color white, gray, black. If two family members use an electric brush, then it is possible to alternate use of the handle, replacing the nozzle with its own color indicator in the form of a colored ring. Of course, every person should have their own toothbrush. But in terms of electricity, it turns out that each will have its own nozzle with a color indicator, and the handle will be common.
Color rings to differentiate attachments
This option is considered a budget option. Rather than buying each family member their own individual electric toothbrush.
Children's electric toothbrush heads
Children's attachments are also replaceable, but the attachments themselves are smaller. Children's attachments differ in color and feature famous cartoon characters. Baby heads have a limited selection of bristle types; most often, the bristles are simply arranged in a bowl without additional rubber inserts.

Connecting a toothbrush to a smartphone
The Oral-B™ app is available for mobile devices running iOS or Android operating systems. It can be downloaded from App Store(SM) or Google Play™.
A sensor is built into the handle of the toothbrush, which, through a mobile application, determines the location of the toothbrush and helps brush your teeth. Use a smartphone holder (for more details, see the “Accessories – Smartphone Holder” section).
What's more, the Oral-B™ app allows you to track your brushing progress and create custom brush settings (see Oral-B™ app instructions for other benefits).
- Launch the Oral-B™ app. It will help you set up a Bluetooth connection.
- Note: The functionality of the Oral-B™ app is limited if your smartphone's Bluetooth wireless technology is disabled (refer to your smartphone's manual for connection instructions).
- All instructions for using the application will be displayed on your smartphone.
- If Bluetooth wireless technology is activated on the brush handle, the Bluetooth symbol on the radio transmission display (7) will light up. Once the connection is established, the Smart Ring (2) will blink once.
- When using the brush, keep your smartphone nearby (up to 5 m). Make sure it is placed securely in a dry place.
Note: To connect to your toothbrush, your smartphone must have Bluetooth 4.0 (or higher)/Bluetooth Smart.
A list of compatible smartphones is available in the App Store(SM) or Google Play™.
Caution: Refer to your smartphone's user manual for information regarding whether the device/charger can be used in the bathroom.
For country availability of the Oral-B™ app, see www.oralbappavailability.co.uk.
Xiaomi
The Chinese manufacturer has conquered markets through the production of smartphones, but Xiaomi’s range of capabilities does not end with these gadgets. Xiaomi electric toothbrushes compete with other popular brands. They differ from analogues from other manufacturers in their elegant, laconic design. Most toothbrush sets only have one brush head included, but there are also sets with two and three heads.
Xiaomi divides attachments into several categories:
- CLEAN
. A range of standard accessories for everyday use. Recommended for use for a healthy oral cavity. - MINI
. Small, as the name suggests, a round nozzle. Designed for teeth whitening. - INTER
. Specialized bristles for cleaning orthodontic structures such as braces, dentures, bridges and others. - SOFT
. For users with sensitive teeth. This attachment is characterized by soft bristles. - DEEP CLEANING HEAD
. A nozzle for more thorough cleaning of the oral cavity and removing a greater percentage of plaque.
There are also special attachments for children, which are smaller in size than adults. Xiaomi electric toothbrushes can be synchronized with an application on your phone for more comfortable use. In the application, you can select an operating mode (for example, gum massage or a mode for sensitive teeth), and adjust the cleaning time.
Accessories
(Depending on model)
Smartphone holder
- Before each use, make sure that the mirror to which the holder will be attached, the suction cups (11d) and the holder brackets (11a) are clean and dry (Fig. B1). Use a smooth cloth to clean the surface of the suction cups and mirror. Make sure the surface of the suction cups and mirror is clean (no dust, hair, oil, lint, dirt, etc.).
- Gently press the smartphone holder (11) with sufficient force, attaching it approximately at nose level to the mirror. Then install the holder by pressing the lever (11b) until it clicks into place (Figure B2). Note: For proper and safe use, do not attach the holder to surfaces other than a mirror. For bathroom use only. Do not use in a car.
- Make sure the holder is securely attached to the mirror before placing your smartphone on it. Place the smartphone in a vertical position between the holder brackets (11a), pressing alternately on one of the brackets and pushing the second one to the side (Fig. B2). To remove the smartphone, repeat the procedure.
- Place the smartphone at the desired angle by turning the ball joint of the holder (Fig. B3).
- After brushing your teeth, remove your smartphone from the holder. To remove the holder, release the lever and carefully pull the tab (Fig. B4 1./2). Re-attach the holder to the mirror each time you use it.
- The smartphone holder can only be cleaned with a damp cloth (Fig.⑤). You can use glass cleaner, alcohol or similar products (avoid products with silicone oil). Make sure the surface is dry and clean. Store the holder in a clean and dry place. Do not leave your smartphone in the holder after use.
Note: Required smartphone width: no less than 58 mm, no more than 83 mm.
Caution : Small parts may break off, keep away from children.
Refer to your smartphone's manual for information on whether the device/charger can be used in the bathroom.
Travel charging module
- To charge the toothbrush handle (5), place it on the lip of the travel charger (12) and connect it to power using the optional power cord (13).
- The flashing indicator light (12a) of the travel charging module indicates that charging is in progress. When fully charged, the indicator turns off. A full charge takes up to 12 hours (Figure C1). Note: When the travel charger is plugged in, you can use the USB port (12b) to charge any other electronic device. The toothbrush can only be charged via the power cord (13)/(12c), but not via the USB port.
- The internal lighting unit of the travel charging module has a built-in holder (12d) on which you can place your smartphone while using the brush (Fig. C2). Before use, make sure that the smartphone fits the dimensions of the stand and is securely fastened.
- The removable inner layer (fig. C3) (12e) of the travel charging module can be washed in the dishwasher (fig. ⑤). The external module is cleaned with a damp cloth. Make sure the parts are completely dry before assembly and that the toothbrush/head is dry before placing it in the module.
Note: Remove stains from the surface of the module immediately. Store the module in a clean and dry place.
Refer to your smartphone's user manual for information on whether the device/charger can be used in the bathroom.
Cosmetic bag
Keep the toothbrush clean and dry in the travel case (15) in the cosmetic bag (14) (Fig. D1/2). Immediately remove stains from the surface of the brush. The cosmetic bag can only be washed by hand in warm water (30°C-40°C) (Fig. ⑤). Store in a dry, clean place.
How do you know when it's time to change your brush?
Before you figure out how often to change your toothbrush, you need to understand why you need to do it. The fact is that hygiene items should always be kept clean. But even if you carefully care for your brush and wash it every time, bacteria will still accumulate on it, of which there is an incredible abundance in the oral cavity.
This is interesting: Hollywood smile - how to get snow-white teeth
How often should you change your toothbrush? Most dentists agree that this should be done every 3 months. This is the maximum allowed time. However, the brush may become unusable much earlier. So, it needs to be replaced in the following cases:
- If the bristles begin to stick out in different directions, the brush can no longer fully perform its functions. Not only does it not remove plaque, but it can also injure your gums.
- Most toothbrush manufacturers make special indicators in the bristles in the form of colored inserts. When their shade becomes pale, immediately change the brush.
- If there is visible accumulation of toothpaste or dirt at the base of the bristles, the brush is no longer suitable for use. Not only does it not clean, but on the contrary, it pollutes the oral cavity.
- If you have had a cold or a viral infection, you need to change the brush immediately (even if it is completely new). By continuing to use the same hygiene item that you used during your illness, you expose yourself to the risk of reinfection.
- If the brush is dropped on a dirty floor or stored in improper conditions, it can no longer be used. Even thorough washing with soap does not guarantee complete cleansing.
- If your brush is accidentally used by another person, it must be replaced immediately. Otherwise, you risk contracting infectious diseases.
It is in childhood that immunity and health are formed. This applies not only to the internal systems of the body, but also to the teeth. That is why it is worth paying special attention to children's brushes. Considering that the child does not yet have sufficient teeth brushing skills, his brushes deteriorate much faster.
Speaking about how often you need to change your toothbrush and why, it is worth noting that the same rules apply for children as for adults. Nevertheless, there is such an important point as addiction. Young children remember well not only the appearance of things, but also tactile sensations. Thus, the new brush may not be liked, which will lead to the child refusing to brush his teeth. It is recommended to buy several identical brushes in advance so that you can change them if necessary.
Even at school, children are taught how often they need to change their toothbrush and why. However, as adults, people do not always follow dentists' instructions. So, if you brush your teeth with the same brush for a long time, the following problems may arise:
- due to the accumulation of pathogenic bacteria, caries develops much faster;
- the risk of stomatitis or gingivitis increases;
- Using an old toothbrush causes gums to bleed.
You should replace the old brush with a new one when:
- the time of its use exceeded 3 months;
- after suffering from an illness associated with the oral cavity, including a runny nose and a cold;
- The bristles were deformed, worn out, and became too soft.
Before using a new hygiene item for the first time, be sure to wash it with soap and rinse in running water.
To have an idea of how often you need to change your toothbrush, you need to understand the purpose for which it is done. Undoubtedly, all items intended for personal hygiene should be kept in place. Despite careful care, there are still bacteria that constantly accumulate.
In childhood, the immune system begins to form, and this also applies to teeth. Therefore, increased attention is paid to children's brushes. Focusing on the fact that children do not have the appropriate skills on how to properly brush their teeth with a toothbrush, I recommend replacing it more often than adults do.
If we talk about how often to change a child’s toothbrush, then you should adhere to the same rules that apply to adults. The only difference is the addictive effect. That is, a child is able to remember not only the appearance of his toothbrush, but also the level of sensitivity from it. All this leads to the child refusing to use something else instead of the old one. Dentists advise pre-purchasing several identical options and replacing them as needed.
In most schools, children are given the necessary information about changing a toothbrush and explained why it is necessary. As people age, they begin to ignore dentists' recommendations. If you use one brush for a long time, the following problems may appear:
- An excessive amount of bacteria on the brush causes tooth decay.
- The likelihood of stomatitis occurring is very high.
- If you use old brushes, your gums begin to bleed.
Toothbrush hygiene can increase the lifespan of your toothbrush. It is important to know how to care for a toothbrush, how to treat it and how to disinfect it. It is equally important to know when a device is due for premature replacement. In some cases, even if you take full care of your toothbrush, it should still be changed ahead of schedule:
- if other people use the personal device (more often this happens by accident);
- if the product falls on a dirty floor;
- any form of contamination in which even thorough cleaning of toothbrushes is ineffective;
- bristle wear;
- the appearance of an unpleasant odor;
- If you experience unpleasant sensations on your teeth or gums, this may indicate deformation of the bristles.
This is interesting: Liquid for irrigator: how to choose a solution or prepare it yourself?
Many people pay great attention to the choice of toothbrush: they take into account the stiffness of the bristles, the material they are made of, the angle of the head and additional properties. These criteria are really important, but to properly maintain oral hygiene, you need to adhere to one more rule - change your toothbrush often.
Prevention of dental diseases begins with proper use of a toothbrush. It is important not only to have a good tool and brush your teeth regularly, but also to change it in a timely manner so that it does not turn from a means of protection into a risk factor.
Over time, any brush stops cleaning your teeth effectively. Special studies have shown that the bristles of an instrument that has served its owner for more than 3 months wear out, flake and become too soft, as a result of which they no longer effectively remove plaque.
Any brush accumulates pathogenic microorganisms. And the more worn it is, the easier it is for bacteria to hide in the exfoliated bristles. Even if a person does not suffer from any infectious disease, a huge number of opportunistic bacteria multiply in the toothbrush over time, which, under certain conditions, cause diseases of the gums and teeth, or even lead to systemic infections.
In general, dentists recommend changing your toothbrush every 3 months. Some recommend doing this even more often - every 1.5-2 months.
For an adult
The optimal replacement period for adults is 2-3 months. If a person has had some kind of infectious disease, then the instrument should be changed immediately after recovery.
To kid
Children should be taught to use a brush that is familiar to all of us, starting from the age of one year.
The relationship between kids and toothbrushes is a special story.
Children should be taught to use the brush that is familiar to all of us, starting at one year of age.
First, to clean your teeth, use a bandage or napkin soaked in warm, always boiled, water.
Starting from 6 months, a special cap with a platform on which there is a small soft bristle is used.
The mother puts the cap on her finger and gently brushes the baby’s teeth with it.
For babies over one year old, use a children's toothbrush with soft, always artificial (it accumulates less bacteria) bristles.
Electric tools for children can be used starting from 2-3 years old, but you need to be careful.
Do not hold the cleaning head in one place for a long time or press it firmly against the child’s teeth. In general, experts advise buying electric tools for children starting from 6 years old.
You need to teach your child to brush their teeth from the age of one. It is considered normal if this hygienic procedure becomes habitual for a baby at 2-3 years old.
An electric toothbrush is a convenient and effective tool for cleaning your teeth. The kit includes several replaceable heads with bristles of different hardness.
The attachments are changed at the same frequency as hand tools - once every 2-3 months. And also immediately after suffering from an infectious disease.
With heavy wear, the length of the bristles in the middle part becomes shorter than on the sides
The appearance of the bristles speaks volumes about the need to replace the instrument.
They become too soft, thin out, flake, and begin to move apart.
The brush takes on the appearance of a tousled brush. With severe wear, the length of the bristles in the middle part becomes shorter than on the sides.
These signs indicate that it is time to change the tool.
To eliminate all doubts regarding tool replacement, some toothbrush manufacturers equip their products with a wear indicator.
Some bristles are painted a certain color. Their discoloration is a signal to the owner of the instrument that it is time to change it. The presence of an indication is written on the packaging or in the accompanying instructions.

However, if the device manufacturer does not comply with this standard, it may affect the compatibility and operation of Bluetooth devices and cause difficulties for the user. Please note that the software installed on your Bluetooth device may significantly affect connectivity and performance.

Kinds
First, let's list the most popular original attachments:
- Oral-B Braun EB-20 Precision Clean. For daily cleaning. The bristles are soft, thin, the head is small and round.
- Oral-B EB18 3D White. For whitening. In the middle of the round head there is a special cup that polishes the tooth at the same time as the medium-hard bristles clean plaque.
- Oral- B EB30 TriZone. For effective cleaning between teeth. The head has a standard shape, the bristles move perpendicularly, making sweeping movements.
- Oral-B Braun EB10K Frozen (Stages) Kids. For children from 3 years old. Round head, reciprocating movements.
- Oral- B ED17. For the irrigator. It has “mono stream” and “turbo stream” modes. Forms bubbles.
- Oral- B Braun EB25. For daily cleaning. Medium hard bristles, round head.
- Oral-B Floss Action. With rubber inserts. The round head makes reciprocating rotational movements, cleaning teeth with bristles and leveling the enamel through processing with special elements.
- Oral- B Cross Action. Unique angled bristles, cut at the tips, combined with a round head, provide a 3D cleaning effect against plaque.
For many, it remains a mystery why gums are not injured when using an Oral-B electric brush. The point is the bristles rounded at the end. If the manual model of medium hardness, even with the slightest excess of force, causes harm, then the electric one, making more than 8000 reciprocating movements, painlessly massages the gums.
Prices
Branded products cost about 600 rubles. per piece, which is expensive, but high quality. Chinese analogues can be found at prices ranging from 80 to 270 rubles. for 4 units, the cost depends on the site and the seller. You should be wary of products that are too cheap; they may not live up to your expectations.
Price of originals and copies
Review of copies
The Chinese have long learned to counterfeit replacement nozzles, spending little on their production, due to cheap labor and mediocre quality of parts. This allows you to make the price as affordable as possible, sacrificing quality.
But not everything is so bad, there are many production facilities, suppliers purchase goods from different companies and, as practice shows, there are always good options that last as long as the originals.
Classic set: 4 pieces each, different manufacturers, unknown Chinese companies, the name of which can be seen upon close examination.
Sets suitable for Oral-B brushes are available in four types:
- Standard. Bristles of medium hardness, located at an angle.
- Whitening. Includes polishing rubber elements, thanks to which whitening is carried out.
- For interdental spaces. With rubber inserts.
- Double. Includes two heads. One rotating round and the second standard.
The first two types of attachments are not particularly durable; reviews say that they last no more than a week. First the head starts to jam, and after some time it stops working completely.
This happens due to a poorly manufactured element of the T-shaped rod, due to which the head rotates. In the original, this part is welded with high quality.
But the double nozzle caused positive emotions among buyers; due to the more powerful design, the manufacturer had to make an appropriate rotating mechanism that does not fail after a week.
There were no significant differences in hardness or quality; the sensations during use were identical. But the range of motion of the Chinese attachment is less than that of the original.
Sometimes among four pieces there is one defective one - it does not fit due to the small diameter of the hole for the rod.
Users note excessive noise of non-original products during operation. The Oral-B electric toothbrush is already quite noisy and resembles a dental drill, and with cheap replaceable heads the situation is even worse. But this is not so bad compared to the cost of the original Oral-B heads.
The cost of four pieces is in the range of 250-270 rubles.
Advantages and disadvantages of copies
Let's summarize what are the differences between the original replacement nozzle and the copy. Based on numerous customer reviews, the following shortcomings of Chinese products were identified:
- low service life due to rapid wear of the filling, while the pile remains intact;
- increased noise;
- small amplitude of head rotation;
- some structural elements are made crudely;
- Often there are defects, as a result of which the nozzle does not fit onto the rod.

CS Medica
The CS Medica brand is a Russian manufacturer of medical devices used in everyday life by ordinary people. Among the manufactured products there are electric toothbrushes, and, accordingly, for them. For each device there is a corresponding suitable nozzle. Since a set with a brush usually contains only one component, you should order additional attachments.
Most of the brush heads produced by CS Medica have a special indicator to determine when the bristles have reached the end of their shelf life. Some of the bristles of the nozzle are bright blue. If you notice that the color has faded, then you need to replace the nozzle.
The product line includes brushes of round and oblong shapes, of varying degrees of bristle hardness, made to match the shape of the teeth and with even bristles, of different colors from white to red and black. Among the attachments there are also children's models. Ease of use lies in the fact that adult attachments can be compatible with a children's electric brush.
The most popular attachments are:
- CS MEDICA SP-51, SP-52
. Accessories for children's toothbrushes. The first device is for the youngest users of CS Medica devices up to five years old, the second is for children over 5-6 years old. - CS MEDICA RP-85
. An adult nozzle, made in a round version with rotating bristles. The center remains motionless while cleaning the oral cavity. - CS MEDICA SP-21
. Adult device for effective cleaning of teeth.
When purchasing brush heads, be sure to check their compatibility with electric toothbrushes.
Some more useful tips
If it is not changed in time, then instead of doing good, it will only cause harm. Such an item for cleaning teeth damages tooth enamel, promotes the spread of pathogenic microbes, and leads to inflammation of the gums.
Any thing or object becomes unusable during use. A toothbrush is no exception. While it is new, you can brush your teeth and remove plaque with it without any problems. After a certain time, the bristles on the toothbrush begin to wear out, break, become deformed and become shaggy.
It is already dangerous to take care of the oral cavity with such an instrument; it can damage teeth and gums. In addition, even if the brush looks good and has not lost its original appearance, but is used for a long time, pathogenic microflora still multiplies in the villi. It will definitely get into the mouth of the owner of the brush and provoke an inflammatory process and dental diseases.
Both adults and children should definitely brush their teeth. Parents brush their babies' first teeth using a silicone fingertip. It is very easy to use and easy to clean. The fingertip should be replaced with a new one as it wears out.
As the child gets older, he brushes his teeth with a brush that has bristles. When used, the bristles deteriorate, lose their original appearance and perform their function worse and worse. In addition, over time, pathogenic microbes begin to develop in the toothbrush.
The baby may develop caries, stomatitis, tonsillitis and other diseases. In order not to injure the child’s teeth and gums, as well as to avoid health problems, it is imperative to change the brush with a new one every two to three months, that is, 4-6 times a year.
Adults should monitor not only the health of their children, but also their own. A damaged and long-used personal toothbrush can cause serious damage to the gums and teeth of an adult. As a result, you will have to undergo long and persistent treatment.
Most toothbrushes have colored bristles, which act as an indicator. With daily brushing of teeth twice a day, the multi-colored bristles begin to discolor after about three months. This is a signal - it's time to replace the brush with a new one. Continued use may be hazardous to health. You should change your toothbrush if:
- heavily polluted;
- has an unpleasant odor;
- cracked;
- The bristles have fallen off or lost their shape.
The most effective way to clean your teeth from food debris and plaque is with an electric toothbrush. It comes with a variety of replacement cleaning attachments. If there are not enough attachments, they can be purchased separately.
With use, the bristles on electric brushes also wear out, as evidenced by a tarnished indicator. This happens after about three months of using the device. In this case, you should immediately replace the cleaning head with a new one.
If your electric brush is not equipped with an indicator, you still need to change the brush head after three months of using the device. This will help keep the oral cavity clean and prevent the development of inflammatory processes.
- Over time, more and more pathogenic bacteria accumulate in the toothbrush. If it is not changed on time, serious problems with teeth and gums may occur. There is a high risk of diseases such as stomatitis, caries, periodontal disease or gingivitis.
- Bristles that are deformed due to prolonged use no longer effectively clean teeth and interdental spaces. They begin to damage tooth enamel and injure the gums to the point of bleeding.
- Old toothbrushes do not remove plaque from the surface of teeth well, which will subsequently lead to the formation of tartar and bad breath.
The service life of an individual brush is about three months if you care for it properly, namely:
- After brushing your teeth, rinse thoroughly under running water, shake and dry well.
- Do not boil, as artificial bristles become deformed when exposed to high temperatures.
- Do not press hard on the brush when brushing your teeth. This will lead to rapid deterioration of the bristles, as well as damage to tooth enamel and bleeding gums.
- Periodically place for 30 minutes in a soda or saline solution for disinfection. To prepare a disinfectant liquid, dissolve one teaspoon of soda or salt in a glass of warm boiled water.
- Sterilization can also be done using an ultraviolet lamp. Within 10 minutes, the sterilizer will destroy all germs.
