Walnut shells will help get rid of many problems

How to properly prepare shells for the benefit of teeth and gums

All recipes here boil down to making a decoction of walnut shells. To improve the condition and appearance of teeth and gums, there is no need to grind the shells or apply them in pure form. First you need to make a decoction from it using one of the following methods.

Decoction of water with shells

For the decoction you will need 40 grams of shells and 200 milliliters of boiling water. Place all the ingredients in a container, place it on the stove and cook until it boils, and then simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes. Next, you need to cool the broth to room temperature (about two hours). During this time, the shell will release all its beneficial properties into the water: alkaloids, tannins, calcium and phosphorus, chitons, vitamins B, C, A, E, magnesium and potassium, proteins - the rich brown color of the decoction will indicate that this has happened and its specific smell. All that remains is to strain the liquid and you can use it for its intended purpose.

There are different recipes for preparing the decoction

Decoction of water with leaves and shells

For the decoction, take not only the shell, but also the leaves of the walnut. The leaves will help enhance the positive properties of the decoction, because... they contain essential oils, carbohydrates, carotene and B vitamins. The proportions here should be approximately the same (for example, 50 grams of leaves and 50 grams of shells). The ingredients also need to be poured with hot water and kept on fire for about half an hour. Next, cool the broth, infuse, filter, and use.

Fresh decoctions should be stored only in the refrigerator and used no more than a few days in a row. You need to use it this way: dip your toothbrush in the broth for 10-15 minutes, then simply brush your teeth. After the procedure, do not forget to carefully remove the composition from the oral cavity. To do this, it is best to brush your teeth again using regular toothpaste and a brush, and then rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash.

On the Internet you can also find many more recipes where the shells need to be infused not in water, but in alcohol or vodka, as well as kerosene (yes, yes, this also happens). We do not recommend using them due to multiple contraindications (pregnancy and lactation in women, childhood, cardiovascular diseases, sensitive and damaged enamel, the presence of caries and pulpitis, diseases of the oral mucosa, pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract). According to some users, a recipe made from walnut shells and alcohol helps get rid of tartar when the deposits are quite significant. But with such an aggressive approach, you risk damaging the teeth and gums themselves, burning the mucous membranes and only aggravating your problems.

Useful and healing properties

The product is famous for its general strengthening, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial effect. Such properties as astringent, anthelmintic, and hypoglycemic are also known, therefore walnuts, both fresh and their decoctions and tinctures, are prescribed for diabetes mellitus.

Walnut fruits are rich in alkaloids. In small quantities it is a powerful protection against viruses, and the antitumor effect is also significant. In large quantities it is poisonous. Alkaloids are found in celandine grass and other plants that have a rich composition of essential oils. Therefore, decoctions and tinctures must be used with knowledge of the measure and dosage, so that the benefits do not turn into harm.

The quinones and tannins that make up the nut provide its ability to heal and build a barrier against various types of infections. This is especially important in case of injury, both mechanical and burns and other injuries.

Steroids are responsible for growth hormone. For this reason, nutritionists prescribe nuts in the diet of children suffering from dystrophy.

Calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron and sodium create the foundation of strength and benefit that the body needs at any age.

In addition to mineral salts, the nut also contains several types of fatty acids: linoleic, oleic and others, which can only be found in certain types of fish, meat and milk.

In terms of the content of amino acids responsible for metabolic processes in the body, walnuts rank first among plant products that are good for health.

The following vitamins can be distinguished: A, this is the health of the eyes, skin, hair, nails, teeth, E - the vitamin of youth and beauty, group of vitamins B - the work of the heart and gastrointestinal tract, vitamin of strong immunity, C.

The nut prevails over other products in terms of iodine and iron content.

Walnut, as proven by recent scientific studies conducted in 2011 by Japanese scientists, has a simply amazing healing effect: by starting the process of cell regeneration, this product is very useful for an organism weakened after a protracted illness, surgery, long-term use of antibiotics or debilitating diets.

The shell will help whiten teeth enamel

Walnut shells and their use for teeth are invaluable in this case. Along with other natural products (soda, tea tree oil, activated carbon, turmeric), it can lighten the enamel, albeit slightly, but return it to a well-groomed appearance and natural shade. Suitable for eliminating yellow, brown or other pigment that our teeth have acquired as a result of consuming “colored” foods and drinks, and smoking.

Shell against dental plaque

Despite the fact that most sources claim that the walnut, or rather its hard shell, is an effective weapon against tartar, we have to disappoint you. A decoction of this useful and valuable product will be able to remove only soft bacterial deposits, but it will not be able to remove hard ones, and especially neglected ones. Only a dentist who will carry out professional oral hygiene will help you cope with them. Here it is also important to know one more feature: in the pursuit of beauty and health, you should be careful with walnut decoction and not abuse it. After all, the substances it contains are good only in very moderate dosages, and the same alkaloids in excess are quite toxic and can lead to intoxication of the body, causing allergic reactions and individual intolerance to the product.

This method will help get rid of only soft plaque.

Not recommended:

— An overdose of walnut-based medicines is strictly unacceptable. This will lead to toxicity due to the huge composition of active substances in the form of alkaloids, fatty acids, amino acids. - For the treatment of the pancreas, walnut medicines are unacceptable, but if the stomach hurts, then these medicines are the best remedy. — You can’t take nuts and medicines based on it when you have proctitis, paraproctitis, acute colitis and other forms of diseases associated with the intestines. — There are also allergies to walnuts. Then all forms of walnut medicines are strictly prohibited.

Shell to fight gum disease

The substances released by the walnut shell help not only against tartar and plaque. Numerous positive reviews from people who use this folk method suggest that this natural product has a beneficial effect on the gums. And this is not surprising, because it contains vitamins A and C, as well as chitons, which increase local immunity, are natural antiseptics and antioxidants, and have a wound-healing and anti-inflammatory, tightening, astringent effect.

The product is good for gum inflammation

The decoction can be used not only for brushing teeth, but also for rinsing the mouth and for applications to the mucous membrane. It will help stop bleeding gums, reduce inflammation, relieve itching and irritation, strengthen them, and help soft tissues regenerate faster. Therefore, shells are often recommended for use in the complex treatment and prevention of gum diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis. But before using the product, we still advise you to consult with your doctor.

What is tartar?

You should not think that tartar is just a fossilized plaque that does not pose a threat to the integrity of the tooth, and that it can be removed very easily.

By the way, the last factor depends on the location of the tartar. Noticing the top of the stone near the gum, it does not even occur to many that the base of the deposit is much more dangerous than it might seem.

After all, if we are talking about pathology formed under the gums, then it is not only difficult to remove, but also difficult to detect at home.

To avoid the occurrence of pathology under the gums, you need to remove it at the slightest suspicion of the occurrence of hard plaque above the gums.

In dentistry, dental plaque is usually divided into supragingival and subgingival. In the first case, the formation can be detected and removed at home using traditional methods.

Typically, such a stone is quite durable and has a brown or yellow tint. Subgingival formation is most often discovered by a dentist during routine dental treatment.

This plaque is much harder and can be dark brown or black-green in color. This pathology causes gingivitis.

Therefore, it is better if you can prevent the appearance of mineralized deposits in general by performing thorough brushing of your teeth.

After all, tartar is formed from food debris that rots and, when broken down, becomes useful soil for the activity of pathogenic bacteria.

Calcium salts give organic plaque strength, so you can’t just remove it with a toothbrush.

Only acids or special enzymes, which, by the way, are present in nut shells, can help deal with hardened deposits.

The first signs of tartar, which can be noticed when studying the dentition using a regular mirror, appear as dark rims around the organ.

Doctors advise patients to remove tartar regularly, 1 or 2 times a year.

More often, pathology forms on the inside of the tooth, after which it spreads over the rest of the surface of the tooth over time.

If you do not pay attention to the condition of the enamel throughout the entire period of plaque growth, then soon an unpleasant odor will appear from the mouth and bleeding gums will occur.

If we talk about the completely neglected state of dental health, it is expressed in damage by pathology to the gum papillae, which leads to aesthetic problems and periodontitis.

Shell against bad breath

It is interesting that in ancient times only very wealthy gentlemen could afford the nuts themselves, but all the “waste”, in particular the partitions and hard peels, went to the poor. But it was from them that people with little income learned in ancient times to extract maximum benefit. Naturally, the substances contained in the shell, if the product is used for dental purposes, help eliminate pathogenic microflora, fight soft deposits on which bacteria like to multiply, whose decay and waste products also cause the appearance of an unpleasant odor from the mouth. This means that if you rinse your mouth with a decoction of nut shells, you can not only freshen your breath, but also eliminate the cause of its appearance.

Also helps cope with bad breath

“I really love traditional medicine. In general, I do not use the shells, but the nuts themselves. I grate them or grind them in a blender, mix them with honey and brush my teeth with this mixture. The effect makes me very happy: my breath is fresh, the enamel is clean and shiny, there are no unpleasant stains on it. But my recipe was chosen by trial and error, it may not be suitable for everyone, and honey and nuts can be strong allergens for some.”

Application

Walnuts are used both fresh and as decoctions and tinctures.

The scope of therapeutic effects is quite wide: treatment of cardiovascular diseases, diseases of the thyroid gland, liver, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, weakened immunity.

The substances contained in the product help to strengthen muscles well, nourishing them with essential microelements; for this reason, walnuts are used in their diet by athletes and bodybuilders. After prolonged stress and a course of antibiotics, the nut helps to recover, saturate the body with energy, and improve tone.

Antioxidant substances are known to slow down the aging process, which is also important.

The product is useful for obesity, as it normalizes metabolism and reduces metabolic syndrome, that is, by activating all internal processes, thereby reducing the level of accumulation of triglycerol, which is converted into fat during oxidation. Thus, cholesterol levels are reduced and blood pressure is equalized.

Alkaloids and other substances prevent the occurrence of tumor-like diseases, fight inflammatory processes, both obvious and latent, which are the most dangerous type for humans.

Walnuts have great benefits for brain function and improve memory. It’s not for nothing that the fetus is so similar to the hemispheres of the brain.

Suitable for the prevention of dental diseases

If you do not want to deal with caries, inflammation of the gums, accumulation of bacterial plaque and tartar, and, as a result, premature loss of teeth, then you can occasionally carry out preventive measures using a decoction of walnut shells - every 6-9 months. Just rinse your mouth with the broth or brush your teeth with it for several weeks 2-3 times a day. But remember that this procedure should not replace all other mandatory measures to ensure quality oral care. The use of a toothbrush and paste, irrigator, dental floss, preventive examinations at the dentist, and professional hygiene in the dental office are mandatory! Only a comprehensive and integrated approach will help achieve good results and truly ensure healthy teeth and gums.

If you use a decoction of walnut shells together with a brush with hard bristles, will the effect be better for removing tartar and whitening?

Vitaly (03/02/2019 at 22:20) Reply to comment

Dear Vitaly! There is no need to resort to such measures; for most people, a brush with medium-hard bristles is ideal. But in order to use hard bristles, you must first consult with a doctor, who will first assess the condition of your enamel. Otherwise, you will not only not solve the problem, but also acquire new ones. Hard bristles can damage the enamel, disrupt its integrity and weaken the protection of hard tissues from cariogenic bacteria, but this will not reduce the amount of hard plaque.
