How much do you care about a beautiful smile and healthy teeth? Pah-pah-pah, I was lucky with my heredity, and my teeth seriously bothered me only once in my entire life. But I think it's super important to take care of them as carefully as possible. Use a good toothpaste, change your brushes on time, go to the dentist regularly, even if nothing bothers you, spend enough time on brushing, etc.
A few years ago I learned that there is such a useful “beast” as an irrigator. I spent a long time reading reviews, testimonials, and recommendations about it. I doubted its necessity due to several points. Firstly, the price (mine cost about 7,000 rubles). Secondly, the space it will occupy in the bathroom (I am a supporter of minimalism and empty horizontal surfaces :). Thirdly, I wasn’t sure that I would use it regularly and that it would become a habit, and that the irrigator itself would not gather dust idle.
But still I was inclined to believe that I needed it. The decisive thing was the conversation with the dentist, whom I have been going to for ten years. I asked what he thought about electric brushes, whether there was any point in spending money on them or whether regular brushes were just fine. He said that if you have a budget, you can buy an electric one, but it will be much better
, if after a regular toothbrush you use a irrigator.
A month after this conversation, my husband gave me a Waterpik.
And now six months of use have passed, all the attachments have been tested, and my opinion has completely formed.

How does it work?

Actually, everyone :) But especially those who have braces or dentures, or something that prevents them from properly cleaning their teeth with just a brush. The device also has contraindications, but as far as I understand, there are very few of them: periodontitis and childhood (meaning that it will be difficult for children to use such a design)
Nozzles
Standard nozzles - 2 pcs. (they differ in the color of the plastic part - super convenient for family use!)
Tongue cleaning attachment - 1 pc. — I didn’t understand her at all, it’s easier to just clean your tongue with a brush, in my opinion.
Periodontal attachment for gum pockets - 1 pc. — I tried it several times, but in the end I still liked the standard nozzle better.
Orthodontic nozzle for cleaning braces - 1 pc. - irrelevant
Brush attachment - 1 pc. — the water pressure is weaker and the process resembles brushing your teeth with a regular brush, I don’t see the point in it
Nozzle for cleaning implants, crowns, bridges, dentures - 1 pc. - irrelevant
Nozzles are conveniently stored in the lid, which is located above the water container

How to use:
- Select the desired nozzle (I have a standard one).
- Pour water into the container (I use running water, but you can also use rinse aid or mix water with rinse aid). I use a whole container, it’s just enough for the whole procedure.
- We set the desired power level (I usually have 7-8, but I started with 5-6)
- Directing the jet strictly perpendicularly, we pass along the bases of the teeth, lingering on the interdental spaces. The process is described in detail in the instructions for the device.
About the pros and cons:
- Sooooo clean teeth. This is truly another level of cleansing. Similar to the feeling after a preventative cleaning - Gums feel better and bleed less - You can reach the most inaccessible places where brushing is inconvenient - Teeth look whiter due to the fact that the spaces between them are cleaned
- Price. In my opinion, the price is still too high for such a simple mechanism - Attachments. Everything except the main one seemed useless to me. I thought that the one with the tongue blade and the one with the brush would be useful. But with them the pressure is weaker and I don’t feel the effect from them. The kit also includes an attachment that duplicates the main one. This is very convenient, because the device can be used by two people. — Presence of wire. This is a stationary irrigator, but there are portable wireless ones, but they have a much smaller water container volume.
It fits quite comfortably in your hand.
During the procedure, if necessary, you can press the blue button - this is essentially a “pause” in the water supply.
The cord length is comfortable. Due to the fact that it folds itself into a spiral, the device looks very neat when stored
Container volume 600 ml. I use the full amount at a time, but in reality 500 ml would be enough. I just like to go through some places twice

And a few more points:
- I use the irrigator once a day - in the evening. If I come home late or am tired, I can score and miss, but this rarely happens.
- The whole process takes approximately 5 minutes.
- It makes quite a lot of noise, in my opinion. But the sound is muffled, so if someone is sleeping in the next room, it will not be annoying.
- Initially, I thought that during use, all the surfaces in the bathroom would be splashed, but, hallelujah, no!) When I use the device, I lean over the sink and slightly cover my mouth. As a result, your teeth are clean and the sink does not need to be washed/wiped!)
- We use the irrigator together with my husband, he just recently had an examination at the dentist and returned with a happy look. He said that nothing needed to be treated, which was actually surprising for him, because before that every examination resulted in some kind of unpleasant procedures.
- The manufacturer recommends changing the nozzle every three months. But I blatantly break this rule, because the standard nozzle can be easily washed with water or some kind of disinfectant solution (I washed it a couple of times with miramistin)
Results:
No, I do not believe that a waterpik is a cure for all diseases. But I think that this is an excellent prevention of all kinds of dental problems, a much cleaner mouth and fresh breath :) I use it with pleasure and praise it to all my friends)
If I were to buy it again, I would look for a version with fewer attachments, due to which the price is lower.
