- lack of resistance to the aggressive effects of saliva, which creates conditions for further infection;
- accidental contact of gasket particles with the walls of the formed cavity can lead to secondary caries.
It is recommended to apply therapeutic pads in cases where the bottom of the formed cavity is located too close to the pulp. It is believed that in order to prevent infection of the pulp by toxins, the minimum thickness of the dentin layer should be 2 mm. When placed correctly, the therapeutic material completely covers the bottom of the carious cavity or lies pointwise in the areas where the pulp horns adjoin.
