A dental technician receiving 250,000 rubles explained his earnings

We all know about such a disease as dental caries. And of course we know that dental caries must be treated, since otherwise not only the appearance of the teeth will deteriorate, but various complications may also arise. For example, pulpitis. Dentists use this term to refer to inflammation of the nerve bundle or, more simply, the dental nerve, which is located in each tooth.

How does pulpitis appear, what are the signs of this disease, how is pulpitis treated? Our article will help you find answers to these questions, in which we will tell you in detail about tooth pulpitis.

What is pulpitis: how does the disease appear, what signs may indicate its development?

The pulp, or dental nerve, is located inside the tooth and is protected by its crown (the hard outer part). But if a person does not treat caries, then gradually pathogenic bacteria will destroy the tooth and this process will reach the pulp. As soon as the infection penetrates the sensitive nerve bundle, the inflammatory process begins. Strong throbbing pains that usually appear at night can tell you about inflammation of the nerve. The strength of these pains can be so great that they do not go away even when taking strong painkillers from the pharmacy.

USEFUL TO KNOW: Of course, pulpitis can appear for a number of other reasons. For example, due to poor quality treatment of caries, improper treatment of dental canals, severe colds with complications. But most often the cause of pulpitis is advanced caries!

But acute pain due to pulpitis appears already with sufficient development of inflammation. In the initial phase, pain may occur when a diseased tooth comes into contact with cold or, conversely, too hot food, sweet or sour food. If you have such signs, be sure to make an appointment with a doctor, because in the initial phases of the disease, pulpitis can be treated quickly and using gentle methods!

USEFUL TO KNOW: At the initial stage of development of the inflammatory process in the pulp, pain in the tooth can be suppressed with analgesics. And many patients do this, believing that they have cured the tooth on their own. This is a very dangerous misconception, since taking painkillers does not eliminate inflammation, but simply removes its external signs. Inflammation will develop and can affect not only the entire dental nerve, but also spread to the root of the tooth. Under such circumstances, it will be impossible to save the tooth!

You should not rejoice prematurely even if the pain in your tooth subsides on its own. This may indicate that the dental nerve has died and the inflammation has turned purulent. In such cases, flux usually appears in the area of the diseased tooth.

Therefore, if you suspect you have tooth pulpitis, do not delay its treatment, contact the dentist immediately. Our clinic in Moscow, Aesthetica, uses modern and effective methods for treating pulpitis, allowing you to save the tooth even in the most advanced cases!

A dental technician receiving 250,000 rubles explained his earnings

Just don’t snort: they say, we know in Moscow that salaries are an order of magnitude higher than 250 thousand. Of course, it happens - only those salaries are paid, as a rule, to big bosses, whose subordinates and responsibilities are not like mere mortals. Yes, and there is classism: they hire, let’s be honest, mostly the “right” people for such positions. Therefore, these salaries are not included in reviews of open vacancies.

But a dental technician is a different matter: this niche is open to ordinary guys (although, of course, you will have to learn). So: a dental technician is someone who makes crowns, implants and other “artificial teeth” in a laboratory, which are installed by a dentist for a patient. Since in the modern world almost no one is ready to put up with the absence of teeth, the demand for prosthetics is very high. The secret of the popularity of ceramic technicians is that metal-ceramics is the most optimal material that is suitable for discreet and high-quality replacement of real teeth. Externally, such an artificial tooth is difficult to distinguish from a real one.

To work as a dental technician, you need to graduate from a secondary specialized educational institution - higher education is not required for such work. During the training process, a specialization is determined - ceramic crowns, removable dentures or some others. You can also take specialized courses later, when your education has already been completed.

According to experts, the work of a ceramic technician is akin to jewelry - when creating an “artificial tooth,” you need to take into account not only anatomy, but also understand the shades, nuances of lighting, and shape. This is what explains the high cost of such work.

“I was very surprised by this information,” says Leona V., a dentist with twenty years of experience, in a conversation with a MK correspondent. – A dental technician does not have a higher education, he is not allowed to work with patients. They do nothing except ceramic crowns and plastic prostheses. Yes, work in the laboratory is also serious and responsible, but maybe this is still confused with prosthetists? This is indeed a very wealthy “caste” of dentists, but I would call the work of a technician less expensive.”

However, according to several popular job search sites, the average salary for a dental technician vacancy ranges from 90 to 250 thousand rubles per month (probably the final cost of the job depends on the solvency of the employer). The applicant is required to have 3-6 years of work experience, have a good knowledge of dental anatomy, and be able to make metal-ceramic crowns and inlays. Vacancies are offered by individual entrepreneurs - that is, private dental clinics and laboratories.

According to experts, this profession has good prospects - today people take care of their teeth much more carefully than several decades ago: past generations would have been surprised by the offer to take out a loan for the installation of dental implants or travel from Moscow to Ryazan for cheaper prosthetics, but today this is in order of things.

“The salaries indicated in the vacancies are very approximate,” dental technician Daniil, who works for several private dental clinics, told MK. — The most important thing: everything depends on production, payment is actually piecework. Therefore, these numbers - from 90 to 250 thousand - can be received in two different months by the same specialist: for example, in July-August of a normal year (without a pandemic) there are few patients, but September and October are full capacity and there is a queue for production . There is also a salary, but its amount is usually insignificant - as in many modern professions. No less - and usually more - 70% of the money we receive is piecework.

The second important factor, the specialist added, is the price situation for materials and their compliance with tariffs for patients. “Prices are always rising because high-quality materials for either dentistry or prosthetics are still not produced in Russia,” notes MK’s interlocutor. “But tariffs for prosthetics, as a rule, lag behind these prices: no one wants to be the first to raise the price and lose patients. Therefore, the situation resembles a rubber bandage - at first the prices for materials stress us more, more, even more - and then suddenly it turns out that our work is still a little free, so we all, without saying a word, raise prices to a new level. Boom! - and we feel comfortable again for a while, but it hurts the patients until they get used to it too. And everything repeats all over again.”

Nevertheless, the specialist believes that the work remains monetary - although not as much as the “office” management service, but much more meaningful. “The comparison with a jeweler is very correct,” says Daniil, “it’s not only about the subtlety of the work, but also about the fact that we create beauty that people then look at. It doesn’t matter whether you have this beauty on your finger or in your mouth.”

It is interesting that the profession of a dental technician is a rare case when “folk wisdom” (remember - many mothers and grandmothers, a century or half a century ago, pushed their children towards a dental career?) corresponds to the realities of the market today. Therefore, there are quite a lot of offers to “learn to become a dental technician” in Moscow - this is taught in several educational institutions in the city. Budget places are available in several colleges - there are 90 of them in Moscow, and commercial education costs from 88 to 200 thousand rubles per year. The administration of almost all educational institutions emphasizes that this will completely “pay off”, given the salaries of dental technicians, including ceramists.

True, our grandmothers at one time had in mind one more advantage of the profession of a dental technician: a license to work with precious metals (after all, in the recent past, crowns were often gold). But this profession is one of the endangered ones: according to the stories of practicing dentists, it is extremely difficult to find a dental technician in Moscow who works with gold (and such a request, mainly from natives of the southern regions and people of the older generation, sometimes occurs). So it’s not just ceramics, there are other values.

Treatment of pulpitis: review of modern treatment methods

When treating pulpitis, the most important task is to eliminate inflammation. For this purpose, conservative procedures or surgical methods that involve complete or partial removal of the pulp can be used. The doctor determines the type of treatment method for pulpitis individually for each patient, taking into account the form of the disease, as well as the stage of its development.

Conservative methods of treating pulpitis

If the patient does not self-medicate and at the first sign of pulpitis seeks professional medical help, then the disease can be treated using a conservative method and at the same time saving both the tooth and its nerve. The diseased tooth is drilled out so that the dentist has access to the pulp. It is treated with special antibacterial drugs and a medical gasket is placed on top, and the drilled tooth is closed with a temporary filling.

The patient will walk with the temporary filling for several days, after which he will return to the clinic for an X-ray. An image is taken to assess the quality of pulp treatment and if it shows that the inflammation has been stopped, the dentist will process the tooth canals, fill them and restore the tooth with a permanent filling.

USEFUL TO KNOW: Conservative methods of treating pulpitis will be effective if all procedures are carried out efficiently. Therefore, it is so important to choose the right dentistry for the treatment of pulpitis.

Surgical methods for treating pulpitis

The surgical treatment of pulpitis may involve either complete or partial removal of the dental nerve. The choice of a specific method depends on the stage of development of inflammation and is determined by the doctor after examining the patient and making a diagnosis. Most often, complete removal of the pulp is used: doctors are forced to make this choice for patients who came to the clinic for treatment of pulpitis too late, waiting for the inflammation to develop to a critical stage.

Complete pulp removal can be:

  • Vital. This method involves extracting the dental nerve under anesthesia. To do this, the tooth is drilled with a drill, and all dental tissue affected by caries is removed. The drilled cavity is treated with an antiseptic and then the dentist, using a special tool, removes the pulp, and then fills the canals and tooth. This method is considered universal and suitable for the treatment of various forms of pulpitis, but it cannot be used for patients with allergies to anesthetic drugs;
  • Devital. When choosing this pulp removal technology, the dental nerve is first exposed to toxic substances, which are placed in the form of a paste into the tooth cavity for up to 2 days. After the specified time has passed, the patient returns to the clinic, where the dentist removes the dead dental nerve from the tooth, treats the canals and places a permanent filling on the tooth.

This method of treating pulpitis is highly effective, but cannot be used in cases of purulent form of the disease or severe tissue necrosis.

Sometimes amputation is used as a method of treating pulpitis, which involves removing only part of the dental nerve. This method is not applicable for teeth with only one root, since in this case the dentist is not able to accurately identify individual parts of the dental nerve. Amputation is usually performed in the treatment of acute pulpitis.

How will pulpitis be treated in the dentist's office?

Only a doctor can give you an exact answer to this question after examination and diagnostic measures. But in most cases, pulp removal is chosen. How will treatment be carried out using this method? Let us consider in detail all stages of the treatment process:

1. A patient comes to the dentist's office. The doctor carefully examines his oral cavity and the diseased tooth, and takes an image that allows him to assess the stage of development of inflammation. The patient is given an injection of an anesthetic drug.

2. The tooth is drilled with a drill to gain access to the pulp chamber, which contains the dental nerve. The doctor removes the pulp with a special instrument - a pulp extractor.

3. Another photograph of the tooth is taken, which will allow the doctor to see the shape, length and all branches of the dental canals.

4. The dentist carries out thorough cleaning and antiseptic treatment of the cavities of the dental canals. This is necessary to completely eliminate the risk of re-inflammation.

5. The canals are filled and the tooth is restored.

With this treatment regimen, it can be completed in one or two visits to the dentist. In some cases, patients are additionally prescribed antibacterial therapy.

This is how pulpitis is treated in a dental clinic. One of its most important stages is channel processing. If mistakes are made in this process, a relapse of the disease is possible.

In our dental clinic in Moscow - “Aesthetica”, treatment of canals for pulpitis is carried out under a microscope - an optical device that allows the doctor to accurately see all the structural features of the canals and qualitatively remove diseased tissue without affecting healthy tissue. This approach to the treatment of pulpitis guarantees high efficiency and allows you to save the tooth even in the most difficult cases!
