Guttasiler is a material for filling dental canals using fillers

Guttasiler is a high-quality dental product in the form of a paste for hermetically sealing dental canals with gutta-percha.

This is a sealer based on zinc oxide and eugenol, which has good plasticity.

The material is used only with fillers (gutta-percha pins).

Composition and release form

The components of the drug are packaged in two glass bottles.
One with powder (18g), the other with liquid (8ml). The kit includes a set of gutta-percha pins. The filling preparation is a polymeric material that is practically insoluble in tissue fluids. A ready-to-use paste is obtained by mixing powder and liquid. The composition of the Guttasiler dry mixture includes the following components:

  • zinc oxide and zirconium oxide;
  • dexamethasone;
  • magnesium stearate;
  • hydrocortisone;
  • barium sulfate;
  • calcium hydroxide;
  • iodothymol.

The liquid component includes: eugenol, purified water, plasticizing additives, peppermint oil.

Guttasiler - method of application

Preliminary mechanical treatment of the canal is carried out according to generally accepted rules, giving it a conical shape. If it is planned to use a single gutta-percha pin, then the pin is selected in such a way that, when inserted into the tooth canal, it gives a feeling of slight “stuck” in the area of the apical physiological narrowing, radiographically not reaching 1 mm from the root apex. The canal is dried with paper points.

The paste is prepared on a pad or glass plate. The powder and liquid are thoroughly mixed to obtain a soft paste. Only one portion of the filling material is introduced into the canal using a canal filler, or using a hand endodontic instrument and distributed over the walls in a clockwise circular motion.

A pin lubricated with filling material is inserted into the tooth root canal, after X-ray control, the excess gutta-percha pin is cut off with a heated trowel, and then the gutta-percha is condensed into the mouth of the canal with a hot plugger.

Properties of filling paste

The main components of the filling paste provide it with the following characteristics:

  • high plasticity;
  • maintaining shape after hardening;
  • long working period (curing occurs after 48 hours);
  • does not irritate the periodontium;
  • has the ability to inhibit the growth and reproduction of bacteria;
  • has an antiseptic effect (during the entire period);
  • allows you to work with pins for a long time (correction if necessary);
  • convenience and ease of use;
  • firmly and reliably fixes the pins;
  • the material, if necessary, can be easily removed from the dental canal:
  • the material is clearly visible on the photographs (radiographically opaque).

The filling paste together with gutta-percha pins, having high adhesion to bone tissue, ensures strong adhesion to dentin. The material meets all the requirements for high-quality fillers and has minimal shrinkage.

If necessary, the sealer introduced into the canal can be easily removed. Remove the gutta-percha rod using a heated instrument. Using special endodontic devices, the filling mixture is removed.

Purposes of use

Guttasiler is used only for filling together with fillers using the lateral condensation method. The material is suitable for working with all groups of teeth.

The properties of the paste make the material indispensable when working with pins. Thanks to the long working period, it is possible to introduce the required amount of fillers, correct the length, and, if necessary, remove the main pin from the cavity.

Guttasiler is suitable for filling difficult-to-pass canals. Its plasticity makes it easy to fill root cavities. The consistency and uniformity of the paste makes it possible to apply it in a thin layer and gradually.

"Guttasiler" is a highly plastic radiopaque material for filling root canals of all groups of teeth. Ingredients: Powder: dexamethasone hydrocortisone iodothymol calcium hydroxide barium sulfate magnesium stearate zinc oxide zirconium oxide Liquid: eugenol peppermint oil.

“Guttasiler” is a highly plastic radiopaque material for filling root canals of all groups of teeth using gutta-percha pins. After complete curing, it practically does not dissolve. It remains plastic for a long time and hardens after 48–72 hours. During this period, it has an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect due to the presence of iodothymol, calcium hydroxide, dexamethasone and hydrocortisone in the composition. The ensured working time allows you to insert the required number of pins, and, if necessary, remove the main pin, correct its length and re-seal the canal. After the sealer has cured, the pins are firmly fixed in the tooth, however, if necessary, the contents of the canal can be evacuated: the pins are softened and removed with a hot instrument, and the paste is removed using endodontic instruments. The zinc oxide contained in gutta-percha pins (from 59% to 75% from different manufacturers) chemically combines with the eugenol of the paste. The polymer resin binds and envelops the gutta-percha base, and the plasticizer gives the entire system plasticity and pliability during operation. At the same time, if necessary, such root filler can be removed from the canal

Packaging and storage The material is packaged in 15 g of powder and 8 ml of liquid. The material should be stored in a cool, dry place. Recommended storage temperature is from +10ºС to +25ºС.

Shelf life – 3 years.

Procedure for working with the material

The dental canal must be pre-treated, cleaned and disinfected. The cavity to be filled is given the desired (conical) shape.

Stages of filling with Guttasiler:

  • select the desired filler; if there is only one, it should be slightly “stuck” in the area of the apical narrowing;
  • dry the treated canal well;
  • the components of the material are thoroughly mixed, the mixture is prepared on a glass plate or on a special strip;
  • the consistency of the paste should be uniform and soft;
  • using a channel filler, a portion of the material is introduced and carefully distributed along the walls of the cavity in a circular motion;
  • insert a pin lubricated with the same paste;
  • take an x-ray, cut off the excess rod with a hot trowel;
  • A special tool is used to compact the filler into the root canal and complete the filling.

The final hardening of the paste occurs after 2 – 3 days. After this, the fillers remain firmly and securely fixed in the canal.

Gutta-percha pins contain more than 50% zinc oxide, which forms a strong chemical bond with the eugenol of the sealer. The plastic paste tightly envelops the gutta-percha base and makes it pliable when working.

Guttasiler is a material that is used in small quantities for sealing canals. This is not a filling cement, although many of the characteristics are the same. The material is used only in conjunction with gutta-percha pins. The space free from filler is filled with paste.

In patients with high sensitivity, an allergic reaction may occur.

Guttasiler Plus

VAT 10% Indications Filling canals of all groups of teeth using gutta-percha (lateral condensation method) and metal pins. Composition and properties of Paste A - zirconium oxide, methenamine, butanediol, calcium tungstate. Paste B - polymer modified resin, barium sulfate, silicone. “Guttasiler Plus” is a two-component (paste + paste) slow-hardening material based on a modified epoxy resin and an amino complex hardener. It has good adhesion to tooth tissue, gutta-percha and metal pins, which contributes to maximum obturation of macro- and microcanals. The radiopaque filler makes it possible to use the material in difficult-to-pass channels. The presence of a new generation hardener introduced into the material makes the material safer (unlike analogues of previous generations). The time for complete curing in the tooth canal is 24 - 48 hours, which, if necessary, makes it possible to refill.

Mode of application

Preliminary mechanical treatment of the canal is carried out according to generally accepted rules, giving it a conical shape. The gutta-percha pin is selected so that it enters the root canal to the full working length, radiologically not reaching the root apex by 1 mm. The canal is dried with paper cones. To prepare the material for filling, squeeze out the required amount of paste from tube A and apply it to a notepad or glass plate. an equal amount of paste B nearby . Mix both components until the required consistency is obtained. Using a paper cone, a small amount of filling material is introduced into the apical region of the canal and distributed along the walls with circular movements. The “main” gutta-percha pin, lubricated with filling material, is inserted into the canal until it stops. Then, between the canal wall and the pin, pressing it to the side, a spreader is inserted to the maximum depth (no more than the working length of the main instrument). The spreader is removed and a gutta-percha pin of smaller diameter, lubricated with a small amount of filling material, is inserted into the unfilled space of the canal. This procedure is repeated several times until it is possible to insert the spreader into the canal to be filled. Excess gutta-percha pins are cut off with a hot trowel, then the gutta-percha is condensed into the mouth of the canal with a heated plugger. When using this canal filling technique, the force applied to the spreader should be controlled due to the possibility of longitudinal fracture of the tooth root. Packaging and storage The material is packaged in 8 g of paste - A and 8 g of paste - B. The material should be stored in a cool, dry place at a temperature of +4 to + 24 ° C. Shelf life - 2 years.
